Dear Royal Vale families,
We are proud to announce our 23rd consecutive year of celebration and participation in Jump Rope for Heart. This event is a non-competitive and dynamic way for students to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. In Canada, one person suffers from heart complications or strokes every minute.
This year marks the 44th anniversary of the Jump Rope for Heart program. We are especially excited to return to our traditional one-day event; projected for Thursday, April 23rd. We are holding an indoor event with each grade level skipping rope for at least a 45-minute period throughout the day. Healthy snacks will also be distributed throughout the day. Health and safety remain our top priority. We encourage you to skip at home with your children in the weeks leading up to the event. Beginning in March, our students will be practicing skipping tricks in the physical education classes to build up toward the big day.
This year, we are so excited to welcome Gilbert Delorme as our special guest. Mr. Delorme was a first-round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens and played for 5 teams in his 9-year NHL career. On Tuesday, March 10th, we are having an assembly for all our elementary students to remind them of heart health. Each student will receive a postcard to take home to show you important heart health information. Last year, our school raised over $13 000 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Royal Vale is setting this year’s goal at $15 000. Donations will be made online.
Respectfully,
Ms. Amanda and Mr. Katz
